On February 4, 2019, WINS hosted a “Professional Development Workshop” for careers in intelligence and National Security, with the participation of representatives from the National Security Agency (NSA), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS), and the Myrtle Beach Police Department (MBPD). There was also a presentation about all-source intelligence careers in the United States Army.
The workshop was a collaborative effort by the Intelligence and National Security Studies, Political Science, and the Women’s and Gender Studies programs at Coastal Carolina University (CCU). It was sponsored by the Quality Enhancement Plan Committee, the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, the University College, WINS, and Women in Philanthropy and Leadership at CCU.
This event was organized as part of an upper-level CCU course entitled “Women in Intelligence and National Security”, which was co-taught by Dr. Kaitlin Sidorsky (Political Science Program), Dr. Ina Seethaler (WGS Program), and Dr. Joseph Fitsanakis (INSS Program). It was led by the course’s students, who included members of Women in Intelligence and National Security at CCU. They were: Hannah Austin, DeMara Barr, Kayla Hall, Samantha Iscoa, Carl Koches, Hannah Loftis, Riley McCormick, Jordan Monroe, and Jamee Traylor.
